Cross border projects bring knowledge

The University of Nova Gorica will set up an interregional centre for ultrafast photonic technique in spectroscopy as part of the cross-border initiative Interreg Slovenia-Italy 2007-2013.

The project budget is EUR 2.8m. Citius project is to start operating in the next three years. The region of Goriska will become therefore the global centre for research in the field.

The university teamed up with the Trieste-based synchrotron cyclic particle accelerator and Italian companies CNR-INFM Luxor from Padua and CNR-ISOF from Ferrara, Slovenian Instrumentation technologies from Solkan and Kontrolni sistemi from Sezana as well as the Ljubljana Biotechnical Faculty. This networking will provide the knowledge flow between the academia and companies and set up a new framework for further steps in cross-border programmes. If the project shows good results, it will continue to get financial support from the funds that are available.
